Kim’s Magic Pop Review

I am such a volume eater, so I’m always looking for ways to voluminize (is that a word? My macbook pro doesn’t think it’s a word…well….now it is) my meals. Am I right, people? I have found our solution, people! KIM’S MAGIC POP. They’re basically rice cakes – “Magic Pop” are large, circular, thin ones, and “Deli Pop” are small, circular, thicker ones. I opened up the package, which I could FIT INTO- the box was THAT BIG, and I wanted to dig RIGHT IN to it all. I should have taken a picture of my face/reaction. Pure excitement.

Here’s everything all displayed all cute:

Now for the reviews…

  • Plain/original- Basically a rice cake! Super simple and straight forward. I like rice cakes.
  • 5-grain magic pop- It tastes very plain. Even more plain than the regular ones. If you’re into that, then this one is for you. I suppose it could really go either way- sweet or savory- so that it doesn’t take away from the flavor of the topping.
  • Strawberry magic pop- This one is really good! Although the flavor is inconsistent throughout the cake (flavor is mainly on the darker pink spots), I loved the taste. Very strawberry-y in the bites that had flavor!! My parents really enjoyed these ones, too.
  • Cheddar magic pop- These reminded me of a less flavorful Cheeto, but a Cheeto nonetheless. I had these with a stir fry, and I LOVE these ones.
  • Onion magic pop- Goodness, this one is SO good. Not too much overpowering onion flavor but not too little. Just the right amount. I LOVE onion flavoring when done right.
  • Pumpkin deli pop- I was kind of disappointed in this flavor, not going to lie… It didn’t taste like the “basic vetch” pumpkin but rather a legitimate pumpkin. It had a GREAT flavor, though, don’t get me wrong! But it wasn’t like the pumpkin spice flavor that I was expecting. I don’t think that’s what they were going for really, so I think I just assumed!
  • Apple cinnamon deli pop- Hands down my FAVORITE deli pop of them all. It has a thin apple cinnamon frosting on top of a plain deli pop rice cake (see? the plain doesn’t take away from the flavor!). It reminds me of homemade apple crisp. Get your hands on this one.
  • Chili lime deli pop- These remind me of chips that I’ve had before eons ago, although I cannot put my finger on which. Very very strong flavor, but in a really good way. They pack a punch in the flavor department! Kind of spicy, too! I loved these.
  • Chocolate-drizzled deli pop- Okokokokok, these are so good. The chocolate drizzle is dark chocolate – aka yum – over a regular rice cake. Would be GREAT on froyo!
  • 7-grain- It tastes like a rice cake. Plain & simple. To the point. I actually like rice cakes, like I said, so I liked this one.
  • 5-grain- oh wow, I liked this one better than the 7-grain. It has more of a toasted flavor, and it’s a smidgen sweeter, too. YUM.

I hope I’m not leaving any out…there were so many!! And so many more that I want to try!

Have you tried some?

  • If yes, which ones? Did you like?
  • If no: Want to get some of your own? Click this link to get soooooome, and let me know what you think!

Detour Smart Bars Review

I was lucky enough to receive two boxes of Detour Smart Bars from Detour. I got the Blueberry and the Peanut Butter Chocolate. They clearly know the way to my heart. I LOVE all of those flavors. (How cool would it be if they had a Peanut Butter Chocolate bar? ALL. IN. ONE. Hnnnnng.)

These bars are gluten free, made with whey protein, are naturally sweetened with stevia (4g total sugar in the whole bar), and have a Greek yogurt drizzle on them!

Peanut Butter Chocolate – 160 calories 16c 6f 11p 3fib.

The bar appeared small, but it weighs 38g. The bar that I opened first weighed 37g, so almost exactly the weight that it was said to be! It smelled of peanut butter. I couldn’t wait to dig in! This bar is so creamy and nutty. It’s chewy but soft. And the bar is pretty dense for its little size, so don’t fear that it’s so small. There’s also little chocolate chips inside, which I wish were a bit bigger. But this far tastes so good, that I was ok with that! I fully recommend it. They did a good job with this one.

The bar definitely smells like blueberries- that’s for sure! Made my mouth water. The first bite, I could taste a blueberries and cream flavor. I literally sat there with the bite in my mouth because it tasted so good. Strong blueberry taste. Chewy and soft, like the other bar! Brava.

You can get your hands on these bars on Detour’s website, or by clicking this link:

MyOatmeal Review!

I shared on my instagram that I teamed up with MyOatmeal to do a review of their products! I was able to make my OWN flavor combinations, too — HOW COOL, right?

Here’s the package as SOON as I opened it! OOOOOH, someone’s good at TETRIS! 😉 So what did I get? WELL!

Just Monkey-in’ AroundHoney + peanut butter + banana chips
–I opened it and was confused by the smell. There was something weird and strong.  I closed my eyes and could smell the bananas in there. Something smelled…different. I couldn’t put my finger on it. I’m guessing it’s the honey flavoring and peanut butter flavoring. The flavor was a match made in heaven. I swear. I could taste both of the flavors equally, and the banana chips added a gorgeous touch! The first time I had this one, I baked it. The banana chips didn’t soften completely and still had a little bite to them. Such a nice surprise!
DOUBLE the Gainsdouble fudge brownie + banana bread
–I could smell the chocolate in there, but what really had my eyes wide poem was the PURE, fresh out of the oven banana bread smell. It was like a dream. I just mixed in stevia drops and liquid egg whites so that I could taste the pure flavor (with sweetener because I didn’t get it sweetened. I prefer to add my own). I could taste the banana bread PURE and STRONG, which I loved. But, sadly, the double fudge brownie kind of got lost somewhere.
She Want That CakeCakeCakewhite cake + vanilla frosting
–it smells like PURE cake. Right when I tore open the bag. As if I has just baked a white cake and was about to take a bite. It literally tastes like that white cake that you had on your birthday as a child (I hope you did, otherwise this is awkward). I had a nostalgic moment as I took that first bite.
Sweet Sticky Bunzsweet icing + cinnamon roll + pecans
–opened and got a large whack in huge face whiff of cinnamon roll. I’m talking Cinnabun whiff. Like…those ones that I used to get when I was little. With the pecans. Cause I could smell those babies in there too! The smell literally had me salivating, and I could picture. That ooey-gooey pecan cinnamon roll with that icing just dripping down the side of it–UGH! Okay okay okay. Onto the flavor. I had it just mixed with liquid stevia drops (because I got it unflavored) and egg whites. I’m telling you. The pecans brought it allll together. The flavor was spot on with a Cinnabun — well, a little less powerful. But I’m telling you- the flavor was THERE. And mixed with oats? Ok. GET THIS ONE.
I’m Hunting Booties PB Leanwhite chocolate + carrot cake
–when I smelled the freshly opened bag, I immediately said (out loud), “ooh. OOOOOOH.” Not kidding. I couldn’t stop smelling it. I even stopped typing this to repeat that. I could smell the strong white chocolate AND the carrot cake. Holy moly, I’m in for a treat. It tasted like I had melted a white chocolate bar on top of some carrot cake, although I wish the carrot cake flavor was a bit stronger. With crushed peanuts in the cake. All in all, it was a nice pairing!

SO. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering how to get YOUR hands on some of this stuff, right? Head on over to www.MyOatmeal.com, and start making creations! 5150 Nut Butter Review

OOOOOOKAY, you all know (or should know) that I am an insanely crazy nut butter addict that should be admitted to NBAA (Nut Butter Addicts Anonymous). I have had the pleasure/blessing/no words of trying 5150 Nut Butter and becoming good friends with their owner, Jordan. He is amazing, and his nut butters go perfectly with him because they are also awesome. I recommend each and every one wholeheartedly. Which one do I love the most? I could not tell you! They are all so unique and perfect. I mean that.

IMG_2844

I took notes after eating each one. I kid you not. First, it’s important to let you all know that these are all chunky nut butters. They’re not chunky like “chunky peanut butter.” Gritty may be the right word? Maybe not- that sounds so negative. I mean that in the most positive way that I could possibly make it because they have chunks of actual nuts in them. YEAH. I’ll let that soak in……………Not enough time, but it’s time for the breakdown.

Chocolate Chip Cookie- This one is sweet, chocolatey, and chunky. It’s nutty chocolatey, obviously because of the nut chunks. Really sweet. Really, really good.

Chocolate biscuit- This one is more nutty. Nutty with a hint of chocolate. I could taste a buttery biscuit when I closed my eyes. I was so skeptical of the “biscuit” part of this one, but I honestly could taste that buttery biscuit.

Cookies & Cream- It doesn’t taste like an Oreo, no, but it tastes like cookies…and cream…I can’t figure out a better way to put it. Just like the name says! Seriously. Like a buttery, chocolatey, nutty cookie dipped in warm milk. Chocolatey. Nutty. Milky. Goodness.

Gluten-Free Cookies & Cream- Okay, so I was surprised by this one because I kind of thought it tasted more like “cookies & cream” than the regular gluten-filled cookies & cream flavor. Maybe? I now am second-guessing myself as I type this. But I remember tasting more chocolate in this one. And uh…who doesn’t love chocolate? Especially with cream ;).  It had a stronger peanut and cookie taste. There’s something else, too. Maybe it’s a hint of coffee flavor? I’m not sure what it is. I just know that I do like this one a lot! I like them both. I like them all.

Health Nut- Who doesn’t like nut butter? And a blend of peanuts and almonds? Yeah. The best of both worlds, seriously. This one has a strictly nut taste, obviously. The chunks are thicker. This one is super chunky, and it has a very natural, pure nut taste, as if you’re sitting there chewing nuts. It’s sooooo different than other peanut and almond butters I’ve had. I LOVE.

NOW GO OVER TO 5150 Nut Butter AND BUY BUY BUY. I seriously give Jordan’s nut butters 1000000000/10.

“Get Up and Go” Review

YAY for my first review on my blogaroo! “Get Up and Go” was kind enough to send me four of their products to try out, and I want to share my thoughts on them!

IMG_2571

As you see here, I received the Caffeinated Chocolate Chip Cookie, the Caffeinated Fudgy Brownie, the Naturally Caffeinated Mocha Espresso Cookie, and the Caffeinated Mocha Joe Granola. These are not your average baked goods because each is equivalent to one cup of coffee. Cool, right? Now let’s dig in…

IMG_2570

First, I tried out the Caffeinated Fudgy Brownie. Before trying it, I assumed it was going to be a “healthy-made brownie.” You know how those go- they’re delicious, but they’re not spot on with the real deal. It’s just a fact. BUT (there’s always a but)!!! This, my friends, was a gooey, soft, moist brownie. The REAL DEAL. It melted in my mouth.

Next, I tried the Caffeinated Chocolate Chip Cookie. I remember texting my good friend Kelly saying how the taste and texture of this one was exactly like my grandma’s chocolate chip cookies growing up. I SWEAR. Soft, moist, sweet, but it wasn’t too soft. It still had that “tough cookie” feel, if ya know what I mean. The chocolate chips with large and in charge, and I greeted them with open arms…erm, mouth. My tummy was happy. I think I remember there being a hint of espresso, but I mostly tasted regular chocolate chip cookie. I think that’s what the company was going for, and I’m sure as heck not complaining.

And theeeeen the other cookie, the Naturally Caffeinated Mocha Espresso Chip Cookie. This one has the same texture as the Chocolate Chip cookie, which I was happy about. The cookie is a chocolate cookie. I’m a chocolate lover, so this was really, really nice. The chocolate chips were also large, like the other cookie. Chocolate on chocolate. If you’re a chocolate fan, you’ll like this! This one has a little more of a coffee hint to it than the other, and it pairs so nicely with the chocolatey-ness of this cookie.

And last but certainly not least, I tried the Caffeintad Mocha Joe Granola. It has that chocolate look to it, so hello- I was excited. The granola is pretty much like any other granola I’ve had, texture-wise, to be honest. Not in a bad why at all. It’s crunchy, nutty, and granola…y. This is the most coffee-tasting product out of the four that I tried. It was extremely satisfying. I had this on some Strawberry Cheesecake greek yogurt. Match made in heaven!

I sit here writing this review asking myself if these goodies gave me a “kick in the booty,” per se, because of the caffeine. I’m going to be honest and say: I don’t know. I only ate half of the goodies at a time and really only ate them for the taste and experience rather than the caffeine. I’ve heard from others that they felt a boost, so I can give you that much. I recommend all of these goodies wholeheartedly. I also heard a rumor that they’re working on new recipes for protein-packed goodies! Basically, I cannot wait! I also really have my eye on some other goodies on their site! Check them out at www.getupandgobaked.com!
